Beginnings I & II

Discard everything you ever learned about music and just sit back and listen to Don Slepian at his best. Twenty-minute segments of original keyboard music broadcast as the opening 15 minutes of ArtMusicCoffeehouse live webcasts.

Quintessential Don, I like to think of it. In the middle of a busy work week I often took the time to drive up to Don's living room where AMC was broadcast live over the world wide web. We had to sit quietly and not talk during the broadcast, just like in the olden days of radio performances, so I would sit with my head back and my eyes closed. The meditative quality of Don's music always worked its magic.

For the twenty years I've known Don Slepian and listened to his original music, I've never been disappointed at a live performance. Beginnings introduces Don's unique style of playing -- restless at times, unresolved at others, but perfect as it is. I've always felt that Don's music was a gift directly from God.

Trained as an accompanist, Don Slepian has truly become one of the world's greatest keyboard composers and musicians.

TRY IT! Let Don take you to faraway places. Each time you listen to Beginnings you will go on a different 15-minute trip with each of four beginnings! Each segment can be used as a meditation, quieting the ever-active mind.

He was a Synthesizer Soloist with the Honolulu Symphony and Musical Director of the Honolulu Theater For Youth.
